les flâneurs erratiques
Les flâneurs erratiques is a not for profit arts organization registered under the Registre des entreprises du Québec, established in January 2015. Founded by a group of professional artists, producers, researchers and professors and citizens of the Laurentians, Les flâneurs erratiques has a unique mandate to create a space for dialogue and discovery of contemporary art for the Laurentian community and visitor to the region through international residencies and contemporary art events.

Hélène Brunet-Neumann (President) holds a master’s degree in Art History from the Université du Québec à Montréal as well as a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the University Visva Bharati of Santiniketan, in India. Since 2004, her work has been exhibited in numerous painting exhibitions. She is also an art critic and has served on a number of committees in the arts sector, including the Board of Directors of the artist-run centre Verticale in Laval. Hélène has just completed a term as municipal councillor in Val-Morin, where she presided over the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee.
Mathieu Marcoux (Vice-President) is an electroacoustic composer. He pursued studies at the Montreal Conservatory of Music and then later in Sweden at the Musikhögskolan de Göteborg. His music was lauded in the prestigious competitions of Bourges (2001), Radio-Canada (2001), JTTP (2000, 04) and the SOCAN Foundation (1999, 2003, 05). He joined the team at Matralab – inter-arts research space at Concordia University led by composer Sandeep Bhagwati - from 2008 to 2012. He also works collaboratively with artists in the visual and media arts.
Sophie Castonguay (Secretary) is a visual and media artist who has taught at UQAM and the École des arts visuels et médiatiques (ÉAVM) since 2008. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in Quebec (Dazibao, Skol, Praxis, Dare-Dare, SBC, AXENÉO7, Verticale, Vidéographe, Optica), in Canada (Fado, x space, Third Space, GNO), in the United States (Art Basel Miami) and in Europe (Hangar in Barcelona, Projektraum54 in Bâle, FIAC in Paris). She has been awarded numerous prizes and research grants for her work and has served on the Boards of Directors of several artist-run centres and cultural organizations in Montreal (Coop Lézarts 2001-09, Centre d’artiste Verticale 2000-03, Centre des arts actuels Skol 2011-13). She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in Études et pratiques des arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Manon Quintal (Treasurer) has been the Director of Administration and Development at the Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides since 2014. Throughout her career, she has led arts organizations, provided professional mentoring, and served on arts juries and Boards of Directors, including the Conseil de la Culture des Laurentides in St-Jérôme, where she has been Treasurer since 2014. In 2004 she founded her own company offering specialized consulting services to cultural managers. She has academic training in cinema (B.A. arts, UdM), and in management of cultural organizations (HEC).
Marilyn Burgess (Director) heads up Burgess Consultants, a strategic consultancy in the arts and cultural industries since 2008. A former professor of Film Studies, Ms. Burgess has worked for federal cultural agencies, occupying professional and management positions at the Canada Council for the Arts and Telefilm Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Communications Studies (Concordia University), a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies (York University) and a Bachelor’s degree with Distinction (Concordia University). Marilyn has published extensively on the arts and culture and sat on numerous cultural Boards. Until 2013, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
Frédéric Drouin (Director) is a graduate of the École Polytechnique in Montréal and of the Royal Technology Institute of Stockholm (Sweden). He spent ten years (2001-2012) at Biothermica, a technology company working to produce electricity from biogas and was the Director of the Bioenergia division from 2005 to 2008. Under his leadership Bioenergia operated a biogas recovery network on a landfill site in El Salvador, producing carbon credits for sale in Luxembourg under the provisions of the Kyoto Protocol. Following a brief stint working in humanitarian aid in Haiti in 2012, he founded the Vivacité Foundation in 2013. The Foundation acquired and transformed the former convent of the Sisters of Jesus and Mary situated on Lac Raymond, which is known today as Le Couvent in Val-Morin.
Corinne Streicher Anglade (Director) holds a Ph.D. in Art History (Canada) and is a graduate of the École des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg (France). Following a decade of teaching in the Department of Art History at UQAM, Corinne served on the Board of Directors of artists’ associations (Réminiscences), published numerous articles and talks, and curated exhibitions (musée d’Art naïf de Magog). She is also a researcher for the Société canadienne d’étude du dix huitième siècle (Canadian Society for Eighteenth Century Studies).
